Employers of LIM interns rate average career readiness higher than the national average in crucial career competency areas.

So say 98% of academic year 2021-2022 internship employers recently surveyed by the College. These employers also rated LIM student intern performance higher than the national average in all eight .  

According to these employers, LIM students exceed the national average by: 

  • 18% in Professionalism 
  • 17% in Self- Development 
  • 15% in Leadership鈥 
  • 12% in Communication 
  • 12% in Equity & Inclusion 
  • 10% in Teamwork 
  • 7% in Critical Thinking 
  • 6% in Technology 

According to NACE, 鈥淔or new college graduates, career readiness is key to ensuring successful entrance into the workforce. Career readiness is the foundation upon which a successful career is launched. Career readiness is, quite simply, the new career currency.鈥 

 

Says Nina Fiddian-Green, LIM鈥橲 Assistant Vice President of Career and Internship Services, 鈥淓xperiential education, more commonly known as 鈥榣earning by doing,鈥 has been a hallmark of an LIM education since the College was founded in 1939. This approach empowers every student to pursue their career potential and dreams, and its success is reflected in the 95% Career Outcomes Rate for our Class of 2021.鈥 

LIM students in bachelor鈥檚 degree programs are required to complete three internships, including a full-semester Senior Co-op. These internships focus on the development and demonstration of requisite competencies that define the basic set of skills and behaviors that broadly prepare college graduates for lifelong career success.  

 

Employers in Spring 2022 included over 200 leading brands and companies, among them AMC Networks, Coach, CH Carolina Herrera, Christian Louboutin, Disney, Gap, Hugo Boss, Louis Vuitton, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Oscar de la Renta, the TJX Companies, and Ulta Beauty.  

 

Concluded Fiddian-Green, 鈥淟IM student interns are making their mark in roles from social media and digital marketing to merchandising, sales, retail management, product development, event planning, public relations, and more. With every internship our students complete, they are building their resumes with invaluable real-world industry experience.鈥
