LIM is now part of the , committing to reducing the College's greenhouse gas emissions at least 40% by 2030. In an effort to fight global climate change, the NYC Carbon Challenge tasks organizations with adopting energy efficient measures and seizing opportunities to convert to cleaner energy sources.
Joining this citywide challenge is a key initiative of 蜜桃传媒在线观看入口鈥檚 Taskforce on Sustainability, which was formed in April to identify and implement environmentally responsible practices. Co-chaired by Fashion Merchandising professor Andrea Kennedy and Director of Facilities Jonathan Abreu, this team includes members from departments across the College.
Among other steps, the new taskforce is implementing the following environmentally responsible measures on campus:
- Improving energy management
- Revising the recycling program
- Installing water bottle refilling stations
- Reducing printed coursework, syllabi, and meeting materials
- Eliminating single-use plastic
鈥淚t is an exciting and important time at LIM, as we join 18 other colleges and universities and align our goals with the vision of the city of New York, which is our campus,鈥 said Professor Kennedy. 鈥淚t鈥檚 an honor to have the support of the Mayor鈥檚 Office of Sustainability as we work on energy initiatives across the College鈥檚 four buildings and foster behavioral change that can have a substantial positive impact on the environment.鈥
