Jesce Horton will teach a course in The Business of Cannabis Cultivation and Manufacturing.

Horton is founder and CEO of LOWD, a multimillion dollar, award-winning cannabis company based in Portland that embodies the art of urban craft cultivation. He has served on numerous federal, state, and local cannabis regulatory advisory committees and helped shape the legal cannabis markets in Oregon and California.

Horton co-founded the Minority Cannabis Business Association (MCBA), the first and largest nonprofit organization developed to create equal access and economic empowerment for cannabis businesses, their patients, and communities most affected by the war on drugs. 

He is also a co-founder of , an nonprofit whose programs "increase success outcomes for cannabis entrepreneurs and professionals of color" and whose work "address the capital, education, and connection hurdles historically excluded communities face when starting a business or professional career."

After earning a degree in Industrial Engineering from FSU-FAMU (Florida State University - Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University), Horton was selected for Siemens' leadership development program and worked at the company's headquarters in Munich. After transferring to Portland, he made a career change, co-founding LOWD with initial financial backing provided exclusively by Black investors.

In addition to sitting on numerous boards in the cannabis industry, Horton was appointed by Oregon Governor Kate Brown to the Task Force for Cannabis Environmental Best Practice in 2016. He continues this work today through the Resource Innovation Institute (RII), an organization building the central platform for creating energy efficiency solutions and standards for cannabis globally.
