The Marcuse School of Graduate Studies kicked off its 2024-25 Graduate Speaker Series on Sept. 24 with special guest Avery Trufelman, creator and host of the fashion podcast .
Trufelman鈥檚 background includes serving as producer for the design podcast 99% Invisible. In 2018 she created Articles of Interest as a spinoff. The series, which delves into the stories behind the clothes we wear, has consistently ranked in The New Yorker鈥檚 annual roundup of the best podcasts.
In 2023, Trufelman earned a spot in The Business of Fashion鈥檚 (BoF) 鈥淏oF 500,鈥 which has been described as "the definitive index of people shaping the global fashion industry."
According to the BoF, Trufelman鈥檚 鈥渦nique approach to storytelling sheds light on often overlooked narratives around fashion, from its cultural significance to its socio-political implications.鈥
