Immersive Hands-On Learning in Visual Design.

蜜桃传媒在线观看入口's course offers students an immersive, hands-on opportunity to gain practical experience.

In this class, students take on the role of creative directors to create a selling and experiential space in LIM's on-campus concept shop in Maxwell Hall. Participants work alongside course instructor Professor Grailing King to assess, conceptualize, and implement their creative vision and visual plan for the store window and displays.

Professor King noted how excited students get about the class because of the hands-on experience it offers, along with the fact that they can apply the work they鈥檝e done in other courses.

鈥淭his course is about application, so everything that the students do can be portfolio work,鈥 Professor King said. 鈥淎ll of the installations and visuals can be incorporated into their portfolio.鈥

Professor King says that he runs the class as if students are in a workplace setting. 鈥淚 built this course on the idea of preparing them for industry, so that when they get out into the industry, they鈥檒l have an idea of what to expect.鈥

At the beginning of the semester, students brainstorm innovative ways to present the space. The Spring 2023 theme was 鈥淗ollywood Renaissance.鈥

The shop was made to look like a theater, with old school movie stills and famous quotes adorning the walls, a screen running movie reels, and a vintage popcorn maker.

鈥淚 want students to really build up their creativity and just use their imagination and run with it,鈥 Professor King said.

Another way students can be involved in the store is by working on the retail side.

鈥淎s a fashion and business-related college, it is really important to have our own brand out there, so we need to make sure that students can actually get the merchandise,鈥 according to Curtis W. Hoover, Vice President of Student Affairs.

Students are also involved in implementing a new sales system to make the retail experience more streamlined.

During the summer, the store is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 12:30-2:30 p.m., with plans to be open four days a week in the fall and having an online purchasing option in the spring of 2024.
