What made you choose LIM?

One of the main factors that brought me to LIM was the broadness of the school鈥檚 academic options. When looking into fashion schools, many didn鈥檛 have what I was looking for, but LIM checked all the boxes. I love the fact that I鈥檓 learning the business side of fashion while still exploring the creative aspects that go into it.

What sort of experiences have you had since starting here? And what are some of the LIM groups you're part of?

During my time at LIM, I鈥檝e experienced so many things I never thought I鈥檇 be able to. I鈥檝e had the opportunity to volunteer and work at New York Fashion Week. I got involved in our school magazine, , as a first-year student and now I鈥檓 the Styling Director鈥攊t鈥檚 been amazing working my way up, styling for our editorial shoots, and making connections in the industry in doing so.

What are your classes like, and what are you learning?

From the professors to the coursework itself, the classes LIM offers are relevant, helpful, and curated to help students be successful in the industry. As a Visual Studies major, many of my classes are hands-on, which I love because we are creating and building projects that we can add to our resume and portfolios.

What are your career goals, and how is LIM helping you work toward these?

There are many interests I would like to pursue in fashion, and the courses that LIM offers are allowing me to explore all options. One area I鈥檝e been consistently drawn to is styling. Through my experience in my styling course and my work on the magazine, I now have photos I can add to my portfolio, which is so important to show in this industry.

What is it like going to school in New York City?

There's so much to do here in New York, you never run out of options, and that鈥檚 one of the best things about living here. Being from California, I was nervous about the transition and knew it would come with challenges. When I first moved here, I thought I鈥檇 never get used to the city, but that feeling went away fast. Now, I feel like adapting to a new city has made me stronger all around.

What advice do you have for other students considering LIM?

Get involved in as much as you can! This experience is definitely what you make out of it, and if you get involved in our clubs and Student Life, you'll have an amazing time. Joining clubs allows you to connect with faculty and students, which can ultimately be your gateway into the fashion industry.
