Gabriella transferred to LIM after attending Westchester Community College. She received a bachelor鈥檚 degree in Fashion Merchandising in 2018 and now works as a Location Planning Analyst for Ross Stores.
Why did you decide to transfer to LIM?
The internship experience at LIM separates it from any other institution with a Fashion Merchandising program. Since LIM has a 3-internship requirement, I knew I was going to get more experience than the average student.
What was your transfer process like?
It was a smooth transition. My previous school had a fashion program and my credits transferred over easily. Everyone in LIM鈥檚 Academic Advising and Registrar鈥檚 offices were friendly and helpful.
How did your LIM education help prepare you for what you鈥檙e doing now?
It helped me mentally prepare myself for the working world. In class we learned about real workplace scenarios and how to overcome challenges. Because of this, I was able to enter the workforce fully prepared for the ups and downs of this industry.
What internships did you do?
First, I was a design intern at the Romeo and Juliet Couture Showroom. I built relationships with vendors from all around the world and buyers from major retailers. The second internship I completed was at Li & Fung in furniture merchandising. I loved this internship because I learned so much about product development within the home industry, which opened my eyes to a new career path.
What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?
Being able to switch my career path at the time that I did. When I first started working, I realized that buying wasn鈥檛 what I wanted to do anymore. I was able to change my position and become a Location Planner. If it wasn鈥檛 for the diverse classroom experience at LIM, I wouldn鈥檛 have been able to achieve this within a year of graduating.
