In scholarship projects run by the , innovative Fashion Merchandising students were recognized and rewarded for their outstanding sustainable fashion ideas and forward-looking product pitches.
Throughout the semester, groups of students in the course worked on new fashion accessory concepts for a specific brand. These ideas were then presented to one representative from the Accessories Council and one from the company whose product was being pitched.
Two teams split $2000 scholarships! They were:
- Sophomores Madison Lucas, Megan McLellan, and Kaylee Naedler, for their SAGA SIMPLE pitch, which focused on smaller, more affordable fur accessories. (Company: Saga Fur)
- Juniors Samantha Ingles, Isabella Rios, and Arianna Porcelli for their STREET STYLE collection, aimed at Millennial and Gen X customers who are drawn to sustainable brands and want everyday pieces. (Company: Charles & Colvard)
In the Next Generation Scholarship project, individual students developed and delivered product pitches to representatives from the Accessories Council, Marchon, and Xcel Brands:
- The first-place $2,000 scholarship recipient was senior Rosanna Garcia for her C. Wonder interchangeable earrings.
- Junior Jillian Backer received the second-place scholarship in the amount of $1,000, for her C. Wonder "airings."
