Crime Branch ADGP S Sreejith said that special Crime Branch Investigation Teams have been set up in all the districts under the leadership of DYSPs to facilitate the investigation of cases related to illegal logging of protected trees. The state-level meeting of the members was convened under the chairmanship of the Crime Branch ADGP.

The investigation team is comprised of 14 DYSPs and 25 inspectors. Malappuram Crime Branch SP Santosh KV, Kottayam Crime Branch SP Sabu Mathew KM, and Thrissur Crime Branch SP Sudarshan KS are in charge of the regional level. The progress of the investigation will be evaluated every two weeks.

In addition to the timber rooms in the leased lands, the special team will also look into the timber rooms in the forest, protected forest, plantation, surplus, and outlying areas of the state. The investigation will be conducted by gathering maximum information from the public. Information about the wood room can be provided to the Crime Branch SPs.
