It is estimated that about one and a half lakh employees are working in this sector.
At present, 1,15,452 IT workers are registered with the Kerala Shops and Commercial Establishments Workers' Welfare Board.

At present, 1,15,452 IT workers are registered with the Kerala Shops and Commercial Establishments Workers' Welfare Board. Of these, 2,682 are entrepreneurs. They will also benefit from the welfare fund launched today.
A member who has paid dividends for at least ten consecutive years is entitled to a pension on attaining the age of sixty years or onwards if he is unable to work for more than two years due to physical disability. The pension amount is Rs 3,000.
The pension quantity might be multiplied by Rs. 50 / - for each subsequent year. Other criteria for payment of pension will be decided by the Board. In case of the death of a member who has paid dividends for at least ten years or a member who is receiving a pension under this scheme, his family will be entitled to a family pension.
A member who has not paid his dues for at least one consecutive year and is not covered under the ESI scheme will get a maternity allowance of Rs. 15,000 / - from this welfare fund. Of this, Rs 10,000 is from the government and Rs 5,000 from the welfare fund.
Similarly, Rs.10,000 / - will be received from the Welfare Fund for the marriage expenses of the adult daughters and female members of members. Members and family members who have contributed to the fund for at least three consecutive years will receive a maximum of Rs. 15,000 / - for treatment in a government / government approved hospital. Members will receive funding for heart and kidney-related diseases and subsequent treatment for cancer, brain tumors, and paralysis.
Talented children of members and entrepreneurs who have consistently contributed to the fund for at least one year will receive an education benefit during the study period. Employees and entrepreneurs of the Kerala Shops and Commercial Establishments Workers' Welfare Fund will be entitled to the existing education benefits and other government-approved benefits from time to time. This is just the beginning. The government intends to expand the scheme by finding more beneficiaries.
