The Christian Nursing College at Horama in Kolar Gold Field, where Malayalee students were studying, was closed. The state government has ordered the temporary closure of the college after Covid confirmed 34 of the college's 300 nursing students.

The fact that 34 out of 300 students have been diagnosed with the disease raises concerns, the health minister said. K Sudhakar pointed out. He advised all educational colleges to be vigilant. It is mandatory for all schools and colleges to meet Covid safety standards. Many students from across the country are studying in various colleges in the state. There are about 800 nursing schools within the state. Most of the students who have been diagnosed with the disease are from Kerala and West Bengal. The minister said the samples would also be sent for genomic sequencing.

Infected students have been transferred to isolation centers. The minister said the college would be closed for the next eight days and classes would resume after re-examination of students. Sudhakar said the area around the college has been declared a micro-cantonment zone and those living within 700 to 800 meters around the college will be subjected to Covid inspection.
